In the Family Health Organization (FHO) model, patients are provided shared care by our group of family physicians in the clinic for urgent or time-sensitive issues. Patients will see one of many FHO physicians for their health issues. We are a teaching site for the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine and therefore welcome medical students and residents. We cannot accommodate requests for care based on gender or race.

Dr. Alexandra Wyszkowska completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University before moving to Poland where she completed her medical degree at Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow. She then completed her family medicine training in London, England. Her general practice in London specialized in health screening. She returned to her home in Toronto in 2022 to practice comprehensive family medicine. She has a special interest in lifestyle and preventative medicine. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and traveling.

Dr. Haroun completed a bachelor of sciences in biology from the University of Toronto and and a masters degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of British Columbia. She worked as a genetic counselor at Sunnybrook Hospital, Audette Cancer Center. During this time, she participated in patient care and education as well as reseach.
Dr. Haroun then obtained her medical degree from the American University of Integrative Medicine in Barbados. She completed her residency in family medicine at Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania, USA. She has now returned to Toronto to practice comprehensive family medicine. Dr. Haroun is particularly interested in disease prevention.

Dr. Selvakumar completed his HBSc degree at University of Toronto before attending University of Limerick in Ireland for medical school. The has been involved in medical research which led to several publications in scientific journals as well as being co-editor of Infectious Disease and Critical Care Medicine Chapters in Andreoli & Carpenter’s Cecil Essentials of Medicine. He completed his family medicine residency at the University of Calgary. He has experience in minor clinical procedures including skin biopsies, skin allergy testing, and musculoskeletal injections. He has a special interest in Dermatology.

Dr. Brooke Hofbauer completed her medical degree and residency in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto, followed by a fellowship in Breast Disease and Oncology at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. She is currently a Clinical Associate at the University Health Network, where she works as a surgical assist to the Surgical Oncology team and as a GP-Oncologist in clinics dedicated to the diagnosis and survivorship care of patients with breast cancer. Her special interests include women’s health, breast health, and cancer survivorship.

Dr. Panchal earned her medical degree from Wayne State University and completed Family Medicine residency and a fellowship in Faculty Development at the University of Virginia. She has previously served on faculty at the University of California San Francisco and the Tufts Family Medicine Residency Program. Her interests include women's health, care of refugees and immigrants, health equity, and medical education.

Dr. Ginsberg earned his Medical Degree from Queen's University and his Family Medicine training at the University of Toronto where he won the Charles E Snelling MD Paediatric Award for outstanding ability in Paediatrics. He then completed a Fellowship in Hospitalist Medicine at the University of Toronto. He has worked for 4 years as an Acute Care Hospitalist at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. He is cross appointed as an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University and as a Lecturer at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Risa Bordman earned her medical degree at the University of Toronto completed her Family Medicine residency training at North York General Hospital. She is the Faculty Development lead at the Office of Education Scholarship and Director of the Essence course at the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Temerity Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and McMaster University. She teaches Medical Students and Residents in her office. She has recently been awarded the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Award of Excellence for 2022.

Dr. Golden completed her medical training at McMaster University and then went on to become Chief Resident for the Family Medicine program at Queen's University. She subsequently completed the GP-Oncology fellowship at Princess Margaret Hospital. She has worked on staff at Mount Sinai and Princess Margaret Hospital in high risk genetics, breast cancer, melanoma and myeloma. She has a special interest in GP-Oncology including survivorship care and patients undergoing active cancer treatment.

Dr. Ahmed Aljefri completed his Family Medicine residency followed by a fellowship in Sport & Exercise Medicine at the University of Toronto. His special interests include injury prevention, exercise prescription, health optimization and musculoskeletal injections. Outside of medicine, Dr. Aljefri enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis and watching movies.
Dr AlJefri is currently on leave. His current patients are being managed by the existing team.
Dr. Garg completed his BHSc at Western University in Health Sciences before attending Queen's University for medical school. He completed his internal medicine and Adult Cardiology training at the University of Toronto. He also recently completed a Master of Science Degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology and has been very involved in clinical trials research out of St. Michael's Hospital with the CardioLink Clinical Trials Group. He is currently completing additional sub-specialist training in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrhythmias at St. Michael's Hospital. In his spare time he loves to spend time with friends, family, and is an avid Toronto Maple Leaf and Raptors fan.
Dr. Bami attended medical school at McMaster University. He then completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Ottawa, Cardiology training at the University of Toronto, and Echocardiography fellowship at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. His areas of interest include valvular cardiology, cardio-oncology, and quality improvement in echocardiography.
Dr. Prud'homme completed a Doctorate in Medicine in 2015 at the University of Sherbrooke followed by a Royal College of Physician and Surgeon's of Canada's subspecialty certification in Internal Medicine (2019) and in Cardiology (2021) at the University of Sherbrooke. He is currently partaking in a Master's degree in Health Science. He is also currently completing a fellowship in echocardiography at University of Toronto at St-Michael's hospital. He has received the award for Young Scientist of the Year (2022) of the Quebec's cardiologists association. His specific focus of expertise are non-invasive cardiology, valvular heart disease, coronary heart disease and cardiovascular complications of COVID-19. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, long-distance running and playing video games. Dr. Prud'homme is fluent in English and in French
Dr. Daniel Ozier obtained his BMSc from Western University before attending medical school at McMaster University. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Toronto where he served as the Chief Medical Resident for Sunnybrook Hospital. He went on to complete his Adult Cardiology training at the University of Toronto where he served as the Chief Cardiology Resident at both Sunnybrook Hospital and Toronto General Hospital. He is currently completing additional subspecialty fellowship training in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrhythmias at St. Michael’s Hospital. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ozier spends his time with family, dog Freddy, friends and is a sports fanatic.
Dr. Katsikeris completed an undergraduate degree in electrical and electronic engineering at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He completed his medical school at University College, Dublin.
He completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School - Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA where he was Chief Resident in Internal Medicine. After completing his Internal Medicine training he completed his cardiology training at the University of Toronto. He is currently enrolled in advanced training in adult echocardiography.
His clinical interest include heart failure, amyloidosis and structural heart disease. In his spare time he likes to be with his family, watch baseball and cook BBQ.
Dr. Yared is currently the Medical Director of Cardiac Imaging at The Scarborough Health Network. Before moving to Toronto, Dr. Yared received his medical degree and Cardiology training at McGill University in Montreal. He subsequently completed an advanced Cardiac Imaging fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital – Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2015, he spearheaded the formation of a Cardio-Oncology clinic at SHN, of which he currently serves as Director. His clinical expertise are in Echocardiography and Cardiac MRI.
Dr. Matt Sandre is a board-certified dermatologist with advanced training in laser surgery and cosmetic injectables. He attended Western University where he completed an Honours Bachelor of Medical Sciences as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, where he graduated at the top of his class and earned the gold medal. He practiced as a pediatric emergency and pediatric oncology nurse prior to attending medical school at McMaster University. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Toronto where he served as co-chief resident. Following residency, Dr. Sandre completed a one-year fellowship (sub-specialty training) in dermatologic laser surgery and aesthetic dermatology with a focus on lasers, injectables (Botox and fillers) and scar treatments. When not practicing medicine, he enjoys curling, skiing, scuba diving and travelling.
Dr. Bhavik Mistry is a board-certified dermatologist in Canada and the USA. He is currently completing additional sub-specialist training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the University of Toronto, focusing on cutaneous oncology and facial reconstruction. He attended McMaster University where he completed an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences before completing medical school at the University of British Columbia (MD). Dr. Mistry completed his dermatology residency at the University of Toronto where he also served as co-chief. Dr. Mistry has published in various national and international peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at several conferences including the Canadian Dermatology Association and the American Academy of Dermatology meetings. He is an active member of the Canadian Dermatology Association, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Board of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatology Surgery. Outside of medicine, he enjoys golfing, watching the Raptors, spending time with family and travelling.
Dr. Chung is a physician with dual certification in Dermatology and Anatomical Pathology. She completed her medical school and pathology residency training at the University of Toronto, followed by a fellowship training in Paediatric Pathology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. For 10 years she practiced as a paediatric pathologist at the Hospital for Sick Children, where she was actively involved in training medical students, residents, and fellows.
To combine her dedication to direct patient care, and interests in diagnostic excellence, she subsequently undertook a second residency in Dermatology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Chung now currently divides her time between her diagnostic dermatopathology and clinical
dermatology practices.
Dr. Impreet Gill is an internal medicine physician who currently practices as an acute care internist within the GTA. Outside of the GTA, he dedicates some of his clinical time servicing North Western Ontario and the Northwest Territories. Dr. Gill completed both his medical school and internal medicine residency training at the University of Toronto. His areas of clinical interest include metabolic syndrome, ascertaining the cause of complex bloodwork abnormalities and appropriate treatment for iron deficiency anemia.
Dr. Sean Cai is a general internist who currently practices acute care medicine in the GTA area. Dr. Cai completed his undergraduate medical training, as well as internal medicine residency at University of Toronto. His clinical interests include cardiovascular health, diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia.
Dr. Di Pierdomenico completed his Honours Bachelor of Science followed by his Doctor of Medicine degrees at Queen’s University. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto Urology residency training program in 2019. Following his residency training he completed a clinical fellowship at Western University in andrology and prosthetic urology. His clinical interests include andrology and men’s health, infertility, and functional urology.
Dr. Fitzpatrick completed his undergraduate studies at McMaster University, followed by medical school at Queen’s University. He went on to complete his Urology residency training at the University of Ottawa. He has advanced training in male infertility and male sexual medicine. His areas of clinical interest include general urology, kidney stones, andrology, and infertility.
Dr. Noss completed his Honours Bachelor of Science in Biophysics at the University of Western Ontario, followed by a Masters of Science in Medical Biophysics and Medical therapeutics from the Ontario Cancer Institute/Princess Margaret Hospital. His Doctor of Medicine degree was obtained at the University of Toronto. He graduated from the University of Toronto Urology residency training program in 1997. He completed a clinical fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto in Male Infertility and Andrology and a second fellowship at the The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in Sexual Dysfunction and Peyronies Disease. He is the former Director of Male Infertility at the Einstein-Montefiore Medical Center. His clinical interests include andrology and men’s health, infertility, and general urology
Dr. Higgins completed his Bachelor of Sciences at Queens University and earned his MD at the University of Toronto. He completed his ENT residency at the University of Toronto where he was Chief Resident.
In addition to his role at the clinic, Dr. Higgins is an affiliate scientist for evaluative clinical sciences with the Odette Cancer Research Program at Sunnybrook Research Institute where he is also a head and neck surgical oncologist/microvascular reconstructive surgeon. Dr. Higgins is an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Toronto and has clinical privileges at several GTA hospitals including Michael Garron, North York General and Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Higgins is an accomplished athlete having completed 4 Boston Marathons, 2 Iron Man Competitions and is an active member of the Morning Glory Cycling M1 Team.
Dr. Lisa Jagan obtained her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree at McMaster University before heading to Queen's University where she completed her Medical Degree, Residency in Ophthalmology, and a Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has authored a number of scientific publications in the field, and has a special interest in medical education. This includes work funded by the Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization (SEAMO) Endowed Scholarship program to validate a simulated eye model that surgeons can practice on in order to refine their procedural skills and learn new techniques. She has also been awarded a Queen's University Open Education Resources grant to co-author an oculoplastic procedural textbook for novice surgeons.
Dr. Lisa Jagan's surgical expertise in oculoplastics can be more plainly described as plastic surgery for the eyelids. This includes droopy eyelids (ptosis), excess skin above the eyelids (dermatochalasis), abnormal in-turning or out-turning of the eyelids (entropions and ectropions), chalazion excisions (styes), cosmetic excision of lumps and bumps on or around the eyelids, and finally, functional and cosmetic botox. Her surgical philosophy centers on creating a refreshed but natural outcome.
Dr. Corneman is the Plastic Surgery Division Head at Grand River Hospital and St. Mary's General Hospital based in Waterloo Ontario. He is also a clinical assistant professor of surgery with McMaster University. He completed his medical school at Queen's University followed by his plastic surgery residency at McMaster University.
He enjoys a wide range of acute and elective conditions managed by plastic surgeons and certainly not limited by this list. This includes skin cancer, upper extremity trauma, elective hand surgery, craniofacial fractures, peripheral nerve pathology, burns, and breast reconstruction. .
He also has an interest in elective and cosmetic surgery such as simple soft tissue "lumps and bumps", liposuction, gynecomastia, abdominoplasty, and massive weight loss body contouring.
Jennifer Lane, RD completed her degree in Nutritional Sciences in Toronto at The Metropolitan University (previously known as Ryerson University) and completed her dietetic internship at Sunnybrook Health
Sciences Center. Jennifer has previously worked as a Registered Dietitian at Women's College Hospital in their Diabetes Education Program. She is currently practicing as a Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator at Lakeridge Health. Her areas of expertise include diabetes management, heart health, weight management and digestive health. By working together with her clients, Jennifer tailors her approach to the individual to help them reach their healthy eating goals with ease and sustainability. She is available for both virtual and in-person sessions including practical Grocery Store Tours with patients at our local Leaside Village Longo's.
Jennifer Brownstein PsyD has worked for the past several years as a psychologist at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School. She specializes in acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), behavioral medicine and positive psychology. She is known for her “Self Care Workshop”, which focuses on tenets of positive psychology and self-compassion. Jen’s authentic leadership, warmth and curiosity foster a nurturing safe space.
Podiatrists have taken eight years of university level education before beginning to practice as a podiatrist. Podiatrists then go through surgical training through a hospital based residency program, totaling 8 to 12 years of education. A Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) is a highly trained specialist in care of the feet. Podiatrists and chiropodists are similar in that they are feet experts but a podiatrist is a highly trained surgeon licensed in Ontario to perform osseous (bone) and soft tissue surgeries on the foot. There are less than 20 licensed podiatrists in the province of Ontario. Podiatrists specialize in surgical issues affecting the forefoot including bunions, osteoarthritis, neuromas, hammertoes and soft tissue lesions including ganglion cysts.
Gary Rogers completed his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from The Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine and then went on to complete his surgical residency at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and as a Podiatrist with the Ontario College of Chiropodists. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot
and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.
Chiropodists' complete seven years of post-secondary education before starting their chiropody career. Students who receive their Advanced Graduate Diploma in Chiropody start their journey with a four-year undergraduate program in the sciences at an accredited university, followed by an additional three years at a
post-secondary program approved by the College of Chiropodists. A Chiropodist is a primary health care provider who provides a variety of medical services ranging from nail and skin care to orthotics and in-office soft tissue surgeries.
Vikaash’s journey in the field of podiatry began at York University, where he
earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Building upon this solid
foundation, hepursued his passion for foot health by completing his Chiropody Certification at the Michener Institute, further enhancing his expertise in the
field. Over the past five years, He has accumulated a wealth of experience, working in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, community
health centers, and multi-disciplinary clinics. His diverse background has allowed him to interact with patients of all ages, from young children to elite athletes and seniors. Through his specialized knowledge and personalized treatment approaches, he has successfully helped his patients overcome foot related challenges and assist them on maintaining their
lifestyle.
Bryan Hague obtained his Bachelor of Science Kinesiology (Honours) from McMaster University, and then completed his Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. Bryan uses individualized therapy including manual therapy, education, and functional exercise to help patients achieve their goal.
Alexander Djuric graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science, double majoring in physiology and human biology. He then studied one year of chiropody at the Michener Institute of Education before continuing his journey towards his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Toronto. Alexander’s experience in chiropody and physical therapy has provided him with a deeper understanding of the relationship between the lower extremities and the rest of the body. His approach involves education, manual therapy techniques, and unique tailored exercise plans.

Chiropody is the health care profession that assesses and treats foot conditions. Podiatrists are a class member of the College of Chiropodists and may perform surgical procedures on the subcutaneous tissues of the foot and the bones of the forefoot. Our team can provide both chiropody and podiatry services at our Leaside location.
At Leaside Village Medical Center we abide by all local and provincial laws and policies to ensure the safety of our staff, patients and community.
